Today it was confirmed that Alex Albon would replace Pierre Gasly at Red Bull as of the Belgium Grand Prix. This announcement comes just weeks after Red Bull team boss Christian Horner told the press that Red Bull would give Gasly the chance to prove himself by saying that Red Bull would not be changing drivers.

This means that Albon and Gasly will swap seats for the second half of the season and possibly longer.

We now have a similar situation to that of Verstappen and Kvyat back in 2016. Will Albon follow in the steps of Verstappen - unfortunately we will have to wait until later this month (August) to find out how Albon will do in his new team. Will we see a repeat of Verstappen's performance where the Dutchman managed a win in his first race for a front running team...

Could Albon win in Belgium?
